Hungarian Dance Academy

In Hungary the state fi nanced educati on of ballet students within an organized system began in 1937 at the Hungarian Royal Opera House which, in 1949, was complemented by the Dance Arti st School. In 1950 the State Ballet Insti tute was formed by unifying these two insti tuti ons. It has had its present name – The Hungarian Dance Academy – since 1990. But already in 1983 the insti tute was reorganized into an academy and ever since it has been a part of the Hungarian higher educati on system. The training and educati on of ballet arti sts lasts nine years and ends with a bachelor’s degree. The training and educati on of folk dance arti sts and modern dance arti sts lasts fi ve years, and is also acknowledged by the bachelor’s degree. Since 2008 also a master’s degree can be obtained with further studies both for arti sts as well as dance teachers. Besides att ending classes, the students regularly parti cipate at the performances of the Academy, at the Hungarian State Opera, or all over the country and abroad upon the request of diff erent concert promoters. On the repertoire you can fi nd excerpts of classical or contemporary pieces (including also fresh compositi ons from the current year), as well as the treasures of the Hungarian folk dances.

National University of Theatre and Film "I. L. Caragiale"

The first theatre faculty in Romania begins its activity in 1834 within the Philharmonic School.

A Faculty of Stage Direction opens in 1948 within the Romanian Art Institute – at that time (1948-1950), the center of all Romanian higher education in the arts.

1950 sees the founding of both the Institute for Film and the Institute for Theatre I. L. Caragiale (named after the classic Romanian playwright). In 1954, the two institutions merge into the Institute of Theatre and Film I.L. Caragiale (IATC). The Institute will function under this name until 1990, when it will become the Academy of Theatre and Film (ATF) – the only such school in Romania to enjoy a ranking equal to that of a university, as well as international recognition.

Since 1990, the Academy of Theatre and Film has undergone a continuous reform process. New specializations have been added, such as Audiovisual Communication and Multimedia: Sound-Editing (both at the Film Faculty), Puppets-Marionettes, Choreography and Scenography (at the Theatre Faculty). The number of students has gone up, while the curricula and study programs have been continuously improved and diversified. In 1998, the Academy of Theatre and Film became the University of Theatre and Film I.L. Caragiale (UATC). In 2001, it became the National University of Theatre and Film I.L. Caragiale (UNATC).

UNATC assumes its role as national cultural center that contributes to the formation, development, transmission and dissemination of cultural values, and represents a benchmark for the art and culture of our country, a generator of artistic and cultural events.

National University of Theatre and Film "I. L. Caragiale" on IDF presents coregraphies:

Ema Ana-Maria Constantin – Emptiness

Bianca Bor – 1,67Hz

Tudor Maria Beatrice – Melanj

Anda Stoian – This is not a tango!
